[Product Updates] September 2025
As we start to enter the fall season, we’re excited to bring you another set of updates for Hero Schedule.
Advanced Open Shift Management
Several upgrades have been made to our Open Shift system, including:
- Administrators now have the ability to view the current order of open shift rotations and make manual adjustments, giving you more precise control over assignments.
- For the per-hour-assigned open shift rotation, we now support an “all time” option.
- When an employee is deactivated, they will now be removed from all pending open shift lists.
- When sending an invite to fill an open shift, the email subject line can now be customized to clearly state what the open shift is for.
- Users who are rejected from filling an open shift now receive an immediate notification (unless they’ve opted out).
New Transaction-Based Pay Period Report
We’ve added a new pay period report that shows one row per transaction rather than the default of one row per employee, giving you a detailed ledger view.
Other Changes
- An employee deactivation can now be recorded for a date in a closed pay period, improving historical accuracy and record-keeping.
- Overtime Policy work periods can now be linked to any pay period time frame, including bi-monthly pay periods, adding significant flexibility to your policy configuration.
- Negative balances will now be marked in red on time cards (this can be turned off if preferred), providing a visual alert for account deficits.
- Administrators can now easily turn off notifications for employees while getting things set up or conducting testing, preventing unnecessary alerts.
- When downloading the result of a ranked bidding, the file will now include all employee bid choices, providing a comprehensive record.
- When changing date ranges, the scroll position of the schedule view will now be reset, preventing confusion when moving to a new time frame.
- For the color picker, we’ve changed the default input mode to hex codes. (Thanks for the idea, Jacob!)
- The prior version caused some sorting preferences to be ignored. This version resets the sorting preferences to typical defaults to restore expected behavior.
- We’ve fixed a few inconsistencies with grouping and sorting options on the main schedule view.
- In the Time Off Request form, the account options now appear in the order that organization admins determine, ensuring a consistent display.
- Fixed an issue where downloading shift bidding schedules would fail under certain conditions.
- For users with logins to multiple organizations, we now provide a better experience when switching from one to another.
See our developer’s release notes for all version details.
