The team is back with our latest product update for Hero Schedule. Here’s a look at the key improvements and fixes in the newest versions.

      Time Off Withdrawal Control

withdraw time off in permissions settings

We’ve introduced more granular control over who is allowed to withdraw approved time off requests, giving administrators greater authority and oversight over leave management. This can be set under Employees > Edit Employee > Permissions.

      Granular Sorting Memory

      sort by setting

Each user’s sort settings are now remembered separately for each view-by/group-by option. Your personalized view preferences will stick, regardless of how you organize the schedule.

      Accrual Balances on Request Forms

      allocations tab

For greater transparency, we now show accrual balances on both the Time Off Request form and the Approve Time Off form, ensuring administrators and employees have the full picture.

        Other Key Improvements

        • Reset Traded Shifts – New options have been added to reset shifts that have previously been traded, providing an easy undo button for trade adjustments.
        • Built-In Shift Overlap Protection – When setting up schedules, if you enter two shifts for one employee in a way that causes them to overlap, an immediate error message is shown to the user. This prevents scheduling conflicts before they happen.
        • Day-of-Week Name in Bidding – When bidding for shifts, the day-of-week name is now included (where applicable), giving employees essential context at a glance.
        • Employee Import/Export for Login Status – When importing or exporting employee data via Excel spreadsheet, we now support “Can Log In” as a column, making it easier to manage user access in bulk.
        • Schedule Draft Copy Fix – The “Copy Groups and Shifts” function when building a schedule draft is now working properly again.
        • Calendar View Filtering – Resolved an issue where the Calendar view was not filtering by group.
        • Calendar Sorting Fixes – We’ve restored a sorting option that was removed in September, added new sorting options to the calendar view, and fixed a few sorting edge cases for consistent display.
        • Bid Schedule Link Fix – Fixed an issue on bid schedules where the “Take this shift…” link would sometimes appear incorrectly (clicking it previously resulted in an error).
        • Bid Protection Suggestion – For bid schedules with protection, we will no longer suggest the user limit the number of shifts they rank, streamlining the bidding process.
        • Time Card Group Membership Fix – Addressed a bug where some group members wouldn’t appear under expected groups on time cards when their group membership was changed within the selected pay period.

See our developer’s release notes for additional details on this month’s efforts.
